Aiyenuro Joshua, the official barber to Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has announced an ambitious bid to break the Guinness World Record for the longest haircut marathon, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Abuja-based grooming specialist, known for trimming the locks of top football stars such as Victor Osimhen and Joseph Yobo, is set to embark on a week-long “barbing marathon” from June 10 to 17, 2025. The record attempt will take place at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Joshua, founder of the T-Jos Signature brand, was unveiled this week by the African Civil Society Forum (AFRICSOF), who are partnering with him on the project. The initiative aims to showcase African talent on the global stage while promoting skill acquisition and youth empowerment.

From Osimhen to Guinness records: Super Eagles’ barber Joshua set to cut his way into the history books
AFRICSOF President, Ambassador Blessing Akinlosotu, said the project marked a new direction for African civil society engagement.
“We are proud to unveil Mr. Aiyenuro Joshua, an official Super Eagles barber, as a shining example of African resilience and ambition,” he said as per The Nation. “Out of 60,000 world records listed by Guinness as of 2022, Africa accounts for only a few dozen — with Nigeria contributing fewer than 50. This must change.”
Joshua believes the record-breaking attempt will serve a greater purpose. He plans to use the platform to launch a nationwide youth development campaign, offering barbing training in all 36 states of Nigeria.
“I want this dream to inspire young Nigerians,” Joshua said. “If I succeed, I will help others learn this skill and create jobs across the country.”
Whether the Nigerian Football Federation or Super Eagles stars will support his attempt remains unclear. But one thing is certain — Joshua is aiming for more than just a world record.
