The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is currently in a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
Naijaonpoint reports that Fubara’s visit comes amid mounting speculation that he may soon dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), following fresh political turbulence in his state.
According to Punch, Fubara, dressed in a deep-blue long-sleeve shirt, black trousers, and a black flat cap, was sighted walking the corridors toward the President’s office at 5:01 p.m. after Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, had also been ushered in for a separate engagement.
However, details of both meetings remain undisclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Recall that Fubara recently credited his continued tenure in office following the six-month emergency rule to the “special favour” of Tinubu, while reiterating his administration’s unwavering commitment to fully funding Rivers State University (RSU) and supporting its staff and students.
The governor made these remarks during the combined 37th and 38th convocation of Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwu, Port Harcourt, on Saturday.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the university and attributed many of these difficulties to the temporary interruption of democracy in the state.
“Like you said, a report was given to us. But you all know what happened in the life of our administration. It is only by the special grace of God, the special favour from Mr President, that we are standing here still as the ones presiding over the affairs of Rivers State,” Fubara said.
