The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naijaonpoint reports that this is coming days after he joined the country’s ruling party.
Fubara was registered as an APC member when the Tony Okocha-led Rivers State APC executive paid a courtesy visit to him at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, was also in attendance during APC’s documentation of the governor.
Keyamo is in the oil-rich state as a guest for the commissioning of a road project.
Okocha presented Fubara with his APC membership card at the event.
Speaking during the brief ceremony, the governor described his move as a “spiritual assignment.”
He noted that the political trajectory of Rivers State must align with that of the President for the sake of stability and development.
Fubara said: “We cannot pursue a different direction when the President is pursuing another. Joining the APC is part of our commitment to ensure a seamless working relationship and to contribute meaningfully to his re-election efforts in the state.”
He stated that his defection was aimed at safeguarding the state’s progress and ensuring strong collaboration with the federal government.
According to the governor, aligning with President Tinubu would help unlock development opportunities and secure the future of the state.
