The spiritual leader of the Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI), Prophet Isa El-Buba, has criticised what he described as unfair profiling and ethnic bias in Nigeria’s security operations, insisting that the country cannot find lasting peace without confronting the truth.
Speaking during a recent Middle Belt Town Hall meeting covered by News Central, El-Buba, who identified himself as a Fulani and Kanuri man, said the narrative that labels entire ethnic groups as violent is dangerous and untrue.
“Osun Fulani, Fulani Ekiti, Fulani Sokoto, Fulani Katsina, Fulani Kaduna, Fulani Plateau, Fulani Benue, Fulani Taraba. Are you the only tribe in Nigeria? You are not the only tribe. There is nothing like profiling of a people,” he said.
El-Buba told the gathering that despite belonging to the Fulani ethnic group, he condemns wrongdoing wherever it occurs.
“I’m a Fulani man. I’m a grandfather of eight grandchildren… And we just have to speak the truth. The Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free,” El-Buba noted.
He warned that avoiding honest conversations about insecurity would continue to delay meaningful solutions.
El-Buba urged security agencies to apply justice without ethnic bias, saying every violent offender should be treated the same, regardless of tribe.
“Until justice is done, there will never be a solution. If you get a Fulani man that is a killer, deal with him as a killer. If you get a Buron man that is a killer, deal with him as a killer… But you don’t give certain people advantage over other tribes,” the Cleric maintained.
El-Buba added that Nigeria must stop giving room for ethnic supremacy or preferential treatment.
The cleric recounted how indigenous communities in Maiduguri confronted the Boko Haram insurgency when it first emerged.
“When the Boko Haram thing started in Maiduguri, it was us, the indigents, the Kanuris, who came together and said this thing is among us. Then we raised the civilian JTF. That was how Boko Haram was dealt with,” Prophet El-Buba stated.
According to him, honesty and community-driven action made the difference in Borno.

Miyetti Allah Must Take Responsibility – El-Buba
Maintaining his stance on the incessant killings across the country, El-Buba accused the Miyetti Allah association of enabling violence.
“Miyetti Allah Association, 80% of the responsibility of the genocide is on you. You have the 80% answer. If today Miyetti Allah says this genocide will stop, it will stop,” He said.
The cleric dismissed the framing of farmer-herder conflicts as mere clashes, saying, “It’s not herders and farmers’ clashes, it is intentional genocide, terrorism. And that must stop.”
‘Nigeria Is Not Honest With Itself’
El-Buba said he is pained by the constant negative profiling of Fulani people, especially when his own children travel and face stigma.
“I am not happy to move as a Fulani man and my tribe is profiled. Fulani here, Fulani there… I am a proud Fulani man, a proud Kanuri man,” the cleric said.
He said Nigeria cannot progress unless it confronts the root causes of insecurity honestly. “I am here to say, Nigeria, we are not honest to ourselves,” El-Buba added, urging leaders, security agencies and communities to embrace truth, justice and equality if the country must overcome the cycles of violence affecting many regions.
