Full List: Speaker, 20 Others Officially Dump NNPP For APC

Kano Assembly

Twenty-one members of the Kano State House of Assembly have officially defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naijaonpoint reports that the lawmakers announced their defection on Monday, deepening the political realignment in the state following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s resignation from the NNPP.

The defections came days after about 774 members of the NNPP reportedly dumped the party for the APC in Rimin Gado Local Government Area.

The wave of defections followed Yusuf’s decision to leave the NNPP, citing protracted internal crises and lingering legal disputes which, according to him, have weakened the party’s cohesion nationwide.

Governor Yusuf is expected to formally register with the APC later on Monday.
