Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has finally paid a visit to her birthday mate and colleague, Iyabo Ojo’s grandson.
In a video posted on Instagram by Iyabo, it captured the moment Funke came into her home and met her grandson, Rakeem, whom she carried and showered with prayers. Funke recounted the moment Iyabo called her on FaceTime to share the news of his birth while she was preparing to celebrate her birthday.
In her caption, Iyabo expressed joy at how the birthday mates finally got to bond.
“Birthday mates finally bond @funkejenifaakindele thanks glamma”.
When Iyabo announced the birth of her grandson, Funke asserted that God’s timing was perfect, as she stated that Rakeem’s birth on her birthday is a sweet testimony of God’s goodness. Hailing Iyabo, she described her as the sexiest grandma ever and expressed her delight for her.
Despite her daughter being in the delivery room on her birthday, Iyabo had sweetly celebrated Funke on her 48th birthday. Sharing photos of the actress, she described the celebrant as her friend turned sister, and wished her more years of blessings and happiness, loads of wins, and love.
In May, Funke had accompanied Iyabo to Tanzania for the wedding finale of her daughter, Priscilla.
When Funke arrived in Tanzania, Iyabo had sweetly welcomed her in grand style. In an online clip, Iyabo was seen hugging Funke as she presented her with flowers and a cape.
Funke, while sharing clips from her grand welcome to Tanzania, she hailed Iyabo as she congratulated her on her daughter’s wedding.
In an online video, the filmmaker was captured with Priscilla as she praised her for making them proud. Funke appreciated her for being beautiful with brains, for her hard work and staying out of controversies and prayed for her.
During Priscilla’s traditional and white wedding in Nigeria, Funke who was noticeably absent, congratulated the bride and her husband as she rained prayers on them. She also expressed how honoured she was to celebrate the special moment with her, noting how Priscilla’s happiness was a testament to her love and dedication as a mother.
After Priscilla’s wedding, Funke lamented her absence and expressed sadness at missing the event.
She had also congratulated Priscilla when she bagged her first endorsement deal following wedding. Taking to her comment section, Funke declared that this was Priscilla’s season of winning and celebration.
Recall that Funke Akindele and Iyabo fell out and were at loggerheads for years, after Iyabo dragged Funke when a blogger criticised Toyin Abraham’s movie, The Ghost and The Tout.
In 2022, the two put their beef aside by embracing and exchanging pecks at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award season 8.
Since their reconciliation, the two have struck a close relationship and have been supportive of each other’s milestone.
In June, Funke gifted Iyabo Ojo a brand new iPhone 16. Iyabo made the news known on her Instagram page, revealing that the actress kept to her promise of changing her Samsung phone.
