Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared a humbling moment between her and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The filmmaker revealed that the Governor watched her movie behind the scenes. Akindele stated that moments like this remind her that when she stays committed to her craft and remains consistent, her work will speak for her in places she never imagines.
Akindele expressed how fulfilled and happy she is knowing the film touched many hearts and that the message she hoped to pass across was felt. She expressed gratitude to the Governor for his time and thoughtful feedback.

A few days back, the box-office Queen also met the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Alh Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, alongside Cute Abiola, Funmi Awelewa, Erekere, and others. Sharing a clip from the courtesy visit, Funke described it as emotional, as she appreciated the monarch for his warm reception.
Funke had shattered records as her 2025 Cinema movie, Behind The Scenes, grossed N2,100,000,000 in a month. Expressing excitement, she credited her big win to God being in motion and expressed gratitude to Him.
Not done, BTS also grossed $190,249 in North America, and over $111,256 in Canada, becoming the biggest-ever release. In total, Funke has made over N2.2 billion at the box office.
When BTS hit N1 billion, the former wife of JJC Skillz said that over the years, she had always valued her fans because, without them, she would be nobody.
The box office Queen, while sending a message to young creatives, admitted that her journey to success wasn’t always pretty, but it was worth it. Funke expressed how proud she was that she came from a place of hustle and hard work and advice to her junior colleagues.
In December, Akindele had celebrated 27 years in the movie industry. She noted how God’s favour and hard work have brought her this far, and revealed the key to achieving continuous success.
In an Instagram post, Funke shared her secret to continuous growth, stating that with each film project, she is reminded that growth occurs outside of comfort zones. Funke said hard work, consistency, and focus lead to continuous growth.
While speaking on her passion for filmmaking and directing, she revealed that as a perfectionist, she strives to ensure every detail is right.
