Funkmaster Flex lit a match and somehow set himself on fire after running his mouth about Kimora Lee Simmons. What started as a wild accusation that Kimora and DaBaby were romantically linked quickly unraveled when Flex admitted he had the wrong rapper entirely.

After the backlash, the Hot 97 vet doubled back and said he actually meant Birdman, not DaBaby. But instead of letting it go, Flex leaned all the way in during his Tuesday morning show, dragging up old industry stories and personal feelings he’s holding onto.
Flex said he met Kimora while she was with Russell Simmons in the early 2000s, back when Russell was both powerful. He recalled getting a call from Birdman’s camp asking to bring the Cash Money boss to Hot 97 with Kimora in tow.

“The label said, ‘Birdman would like to come by, and he has Kimora Lee with him,’” Flex said. “This was while she was seeing Russell, who I was friends with. I said, ‘No, you can’t bring that bird by my show with Birdman.’”
Flex didn’t stop there, implying that Kimora hopped over to the music executive because he was wealthier. “Birdman at the time got more bread than Russell,” he added.
“Imma keep it a buck today,” Flex continued. “Russell was very, very upset. Tears, upset.”
Still, he tried to soften the blow. “I like her a lot,” Flex said, praising Kimora as “instrumental” to Russell’s glow up while admitting, “It didn’t seem like Kimora Lee to me.”
