Hot 97 is still without a permanent morning show after Ebro In The Morning was abruptly canceled, and the fallout has been anything but quiet.
Funkmaster Flex added fuel to the rumors after Hot 97 teased “Flex In The Morning,” prompting speculation that he might be taking over. Flex quickly shut that down on social media.
“I’m only doing one day! Easy!” he wrote, making it clear his appearance on Monday, Dec. 15, is temporary. He later doubled down, saying, “So we are clear! I’m only covering tomorrow only!”
While setting the record straight, Flex showed love to his colleagues.
“You guys have been so amazing in the hardest city in the world,” he wrote, addressing Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez. Of Darden, Flex added, “Ebro u was my boss for years… your passion for the music and dedication to the radio game is unmatched! I love you and I’m going to miss u!”
Darden has suggested the show’s cancellation may be tied to disagreements with corporate leadership over his political views.
Meanwhile, Drake appeared to celebrate the news, reacting with a hatchet emoji on Instagram. The move reignited their long-running tension, with Ebro and Rosenberg later responding dismissively.
