Samsung is expanding the availability of the September 2024 security update to some of its older Galaxy smartphones including the Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S20 FE 5G, and Galaxy S21 FE. The latest security update for these smartphones fixes 67 security vulnerabilities.
Samsung is rolling out the September 2024 security update for carrier-locked Galaxy S21 FE
Samsung has started rolling out the September 2024 security update for the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy S21 FE with model number SM-G990U. SamMobile has confirmed that the latest update for the Galaxy S21 FE is live for devices on T-Mobile, DISH, and MetroPCS.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21 FE comes with firmware version G990USQSCGXH1. Moreover, we expect Samsung to roll out the September 2024 security update to other variants in the next few days.
The security update is also live for the Fan Edition model of the S20 series in some regions
Samsung is also pushing the September 2024 security update to the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S20 FE 5G smartphones. The latest update for the non-5G model is now available for devices sold in Central America, with model number SM-G780G. Notably, the latest security update patches 67 security vulnerabilities and offers stability and reliability improvements. The firmware version for the latest software update is G780GXXSCEXI1.
On top of that, the September 2024 security update is also live for the carrier-locked Galaxy S20 FE 5G smartphones. The latest security patch is available on devices in the United States with model number SM-G781U. The firmware version for the software update available on the Galaxy S20 FE 5G is G781USQSIHXH2.
If you own the Fan Edition smartphones of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series with the given model numbers in the regions stated above, check for the update right away. You can do so by going to Settings > Software Update. Moreover, if you see a new software update, simply tap on the “Download and install” option.
