Samsung has now ramped up the rollout of the October 2024 security update for the Galaxy smartphones. Earlier this month the company’s three-year-old foldable and flip phone got the One UI 6.1.1 update. Now, Samsung is rolling out the October 2024 security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 get the October 2024 security update in the US
The latest update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 brings the October 2024 Android and One UI security patch for units in some South American countries. It should be noted that the latest security update is rolling out to carrier-locked models of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3.
The October 2024 security update for Galaxy Z Fold 3 carries the firmware version F926USQS8JXJ1. Whereas, the latest update comes with a firmware version F711USQS9JXJ1 on the Galaxy Z Flip 3. This month’s security update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3 includes fixes for over 40 security vulnerabilities reported in the previous version.
Notably, the update includes fixes identified by Google and Samsung. Google has fixed 2 critical and 28 high-level security vulnerabilities with one already resolved in the previous update. Besides, the two other fixes from Google don’t apply to the Samsung foldables. In addition, Samsung patches 12 security loopholes related to system services and Knox.
The latest update doesn’t add any new features
Let’s not forget that the October 2024 security update doesn’t add any new features. Rather, the latest security patch focuses more on system security and stability. So, if you live in the US and have these foldable phones, check for the update now. You can do so by going to Settings > Software update.
On the Software update page, wait for the device to scan for the new update. Once the new update pops up, make sure to tap Download and install. Moreover, if you live outside of the US, we recommend waiting a few days before the update reaches your device.
