The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, on Thursday, said there was no truth in the allegation linking him to a fresh plot to unseat the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

The rebuttal comes in the wake of a viral report circulating on social media with a caption that read, “Ganduje leads fresh plot to dethrone Emir Mohammad Sanusi.”

Emir Sanusi returned to the throne in May, about four years after he was dethroned during Ganduje’s tenure as Kano State Governor. His dethronement was validated by the court, a judgment many believed was influenced by the Ganduje administration.

In a Thursday statement obtained in Abuja, Ganduje dissociated himself from any alleged fresh move to dethrone Sanusi. Describing the claim as “lame,” Ganduje questioned how he could dethrone the Emir of Kano when he was no longer the governor of the state.

“Ganduje has nothing to do with the present enthronement or dethronement of Emir Mohammad Sanusi in Kano. It should be noted that he is no longer the executive governor or the Speaker of the House of Assembly and therefore cannot have anything to do further with the Emirship of Kano.”
