A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart in Kano, Faizu Alfindiki, has advised Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to tender a public apology to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former APC National Chairman, as a precondition for joining the ruling party.
Speaking in Kano on Sunday, Alfindiki said it would be “easier” for the former Kano governor to join the APC if he sets aside personal pride and reconciles with Ganduje.
Alfindiki stated, “Ganduje has a very large heart and is always willing to assist Kwankwaso, provided he chooses to accept him.”
He accused Kwankwaso of pursuing a flawed political strategy, particularly his alleged reliance on former President Goodluck Jonathan for political survival.
“Desperate situations don’t always require desperate solutions,” he said, adding that Kwankwaso’s political career “is visibly on the decline” and showing “signs of confusion and desperation.”
He further told Kwankwaso, “What you’re struggling to secure from Otuoke is here in Kano. All you need to do is show remorse to Ganduje, who has moved beyond low-level politicking.”
While insisting that the APC in Kano is politically formidable, Alfindiki maintained that Kwankwaso’s defection would only be on his terms.
“APC’s momentum in Kano is unstoppable, with or without Kwankwaso; ultimately, the decision to join the winning party rests with him,” he added.
Rumours of Kwankwaso’s possible defection to the APC have swirled in recent months, as top party figures, including President Bola Tinubu, reportedly court the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain.
Although Kwankwaso’s allies and the NNPP have repeatedly denied such plans, recent developments suggest a shift in tone. The speculation heightened after a close confidant of Kwankwaso, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, held two closed-door meetings with President Tinubu within the past two weeks.
