‘Tis the season for AI it seems, as top AI companies are announcing and releasing some pretty big products. Google recently released its video generation model in a private preview, for example. Well, one San Francisco-based AI company has a release for us… rather, it has 12 releases! Open AI just announced 12 Days of OpenAI.
This might sound surprising. Firstly, 12 releases from any company is impressive. Second, OpenAI has been dropping employees so fast, we can’t help but to wonder if there’s anyone left at the company!
Be that as it may, according to Sam Altman, OpenAI has a “release fast and often” mentality that seems to be working so far. It remains at the top of the AI market with ChatGPT boasting over 300 million users.
Sam Altman teased 12 Days of OpenAI
What the heck is Sam and the gang planning? That’s what people are wondering. Altman made a short and sweet post on X.com, saying that there will be “12 days, 12 livestreams [and] a bunch of new things, big and small.” The only issue is that ... didn’t tell us what the company plans to release. The text “big and small” is a bit intriguing. We expect to see a bunch of little releases; maybe some new features for ChatGPT. As for the big releases, the only thing that comes to mind is Sora.
People have been waiting for OpenAI to release Sora for months. The company first showcased it in February, and it’s been pretty radio-silent since then… well, mostly. A few days ago, a couple of disgruntled testers leaked Sora to the public. This allowed people to try it out.
So, OpenAI could possibly launch Sora. It’s important to pay attention to the wording. … mentioned “new things”. It doesn’t specify announcements or releases, so we might not see 12 new products hit the market. For all we know, we could be in for 12 announcements for future products.
Only time will tell. This is speculation, but there’s a chance that we could hear about new innovations with DALL-E or even something about GPT-5.
