Juliana Madrid is one of the up-and-coming acts on the music scene that we’re most excited about, and we want Just Jared readers to get an exclusive chance to know her even better.
The 21-year-old Dallas, Texas-bred alt-pop singer-songwriter grew up writing songs in her bedroom, eventually meeting Benjamin Ruttner, also known as one-half of the electronic duo The Knocks at his show, who would go on to collaborate with Juliana on her debut EP.
She’s since released a string of singles under Neon Gold, the record label that’s been home to superstar pop acts like Marina and Charli XCX.
As of this week, Juliana‘s back with a brand new track, called “Savior.”
“I wrote ‘Savior’ when I was pretty fresh out of my first real long relationship. It’s about having this intense love that slowly starts to fade when you come to the realization that you have been giving up more of yourself than you are receiving, and it’s drained you completely. You know there will never be enough to give to this other person and it has created this apathetic attitude that eventually leads to the end,” she says of the song.
“If I’m too young to fall in love, then tell me what the f–k that was,” she sings.
