Ghana government says it will, May 15, 2022, begin the rebuilding of collapsed Appetite community where a huge explosion caused the death of about 13 people, injured many and displaced the entire community.
The government has recently received a lot of pressure to speed up the process of rebuilding the community after persons who were displaced by the Appetite explosion had their lives disrupted again by a downpour last Friday (April 8th).
The Appetite Support Fund, which was set up to mobilise adequate funds to rebuild the community destroyed by a fatal explosion, has received over GHS 35 million in donations so far, according to local media reports.
“Within two weeks, we will be able to have selected whoever will be constructing the building and the designs. Within the stipulated time, the Ministry of Roads would have been there to do their road layouts. That is a big step, without which we can’t proceed…We will also be able to give proper estimates.” The Chairman of the Appiate Reconstruction Implementation Committee, Benito Owusu-Bio, said.
The explosion is believed to have been caused by a collision between a vehicle transporting explosives to a mining site and a tricycle.
The truck that was involved in the explosion was heading to Chirano Gold Mines.

The Starliner spacecraft, which has been hit by the crisis, is flying to the ISS
Long waiting times և Workshop visits. More than two years ago, Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft had to take off and fly to the International Space Station. Now is the time.
After a series of failures, the Boeing Starliner spacecraft left for the International Space Station. On Friday night, it left the spacecraft of Cape Canaveral in the direction of the outpost of humanity.
It is a drone test for the critical Starliner, which is more than two years behind schedule.
In the future, the Boeing spacecraft will transport astronauts to the ISS as an alternative to SpaceX’s “Crew Dragon” space capsule. It should have happened a long time ago, but during the first test in December 2019, the spacecraft did not reach the ISS, partly due to a problem with the automatic ignition of the engines. The mission was delayed several times over the past year, after which the Starliner was finally forced to return to the workshop due to valve problems.
