Girish Bapat was elected to the Lok Sabha, which is the lower house of the Parliament of India from the city of Pune, Maharashtra in the 2019 Indian General Election as a member of BJP. Previously Bapat was a cabinet minister of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection. He also handled the Drugs Administration and Parliamentary Affairs of the Government in Maharashtra.

Bapat was a member of the 13th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and was among the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who were in the Vidhan Sabha. In 1995, Bapat was elected from the Kasba Peth Constituency for Vidhan Sabha in five consecutive elections.

Girish Bapat’s death, family, and education
Girish Bapat was born on 3rd September 1950 and he died on 29th March 2023. Bapat died in Shaniwar Peth, Pune, India at the age of 72 years after suffering from a long illness. He was on life support at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
Girish attended Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce. He was born to Pratibha Bapat and Balchandra Bapat. Bapat was married to Girija and had a son named Gaurav Bapat.
Girish Bapat career
Girish Bapat began his career with the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. Bapat was appointed as the secretary of the Pune City BJP in 1980. Then he was elected as Pune’s Municipal Corporation member in the by-election of 1983 and he won three subsequent terms.
Bapat was later appointed as a Standing Committee chairman of the Pune Municipal Corporation from 1986 to 1987. Bapat was first elected as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1995. Bapat was also appointed as the director of Krishna Valley Development Corporation in 1997. In 2019, he stood in the Indian General Elections and was elected to the Lok Sabha assembly from the Pune Constituency.
