As the launch of the Galaxy S25 series draws closer, pre-certifications have shed some technical details. According to leaks, Samsung will launch its next-gen flagship smartphone lineup in January 2025. Meanwhile, the global versions of all the Galaxy S25 models have passed through the FCC, receiving their corresponding approvals.
FCC certifies global models of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series
The Galaxy S25 series had already been spotted on the FCC database. However, the agency has now listed the global versions of these devices. As spotted by My Smart Price, the global version of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra have the model numbers SM-S931B/DS, SM-S936B/DS, and SM-S938B/DS, respectively. The same model numbers had previously appeared on the IMEI listings, confirming their names.
As expected, there will be no upgrades in terms of fast charging for the upcoming Galaxy flagship phones. The FCC confirms 25W wired charging via USB-C for the vanilla and Plus models. Both were tested with the EP-TA800 charging adapter (25W) and the EP-DN980 charging cable (USB-C to USB-C).
According to the listing, all variants will support wireless and reverse wireless charging. There is no mention of the supported wireless charging power, so we cannot confirm whether the base S25 will be downgraded (9W), as a previous FCC listing suggested.
Interestingly, the report claims that all Galaxy S25 devices will support UWB connectivity. The FCC entry from a few days ago suggested that the vanilla S25 will rule out such connectivity. We don’t know if this is a listing error or if all global models will support UWB.
Both the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will support Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n/a/ac/ax/be), GNSS, UWB, DP, and NFC. The base variant will be compatible with the following 5G bands: n1/2/3/5/7/8/12/20/25/26/28/38/40/41/66/75/77/78. On the other hand, the Plus variant will include all 5G bands except n75.
No surprises regarding Galaxy S25 Ultra’s fast charging
The FCC tested the global Galaxy S25 Ultra with the same 25W EP-TA800 charging adapter. However, Samsung will retain the 45W fast charging support from previous generations. The listing mentions support for S Pen, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. The phone will support Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n/a/ac/ax/be), GNSS, UWB, DP, and NFC. Lastly, the 5G band support list includes the following: n1/2/3/5/7/8/12/20/25/26/28/38/40/41/66/77/78.
