The Donkorkrom Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) swiftly responded to a fire incident at a sawmill located in Mradan, within the Kwahu Afram Plains South District, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
As reported by the GNFS, the emergency call was received at 3:33 p.m., and the team, under the leadership of STNO II Kodua, arrived shortly thereafter.
The fire was contained by 4:56 p.m. and completely extinguished by 5:05 p.m., with no injuries reported.
Four timber logs suffered partial damage, while twenty logs were successfully rescued.
Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have started from a wildfire in Krakye, which subsequently spread to the sawmill before the authorities were notified.
