Former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has accused many prominent politicians of retreating into luxury while allowing the masses to wallow in poverty
He lamented that many politicians who left for Abuja have abandoned ordinary Nigerians to hardship.
Speaking in Kano during the event marking his 69th birthday, Kwankwaso said those who “ran away” to grand homes have forgotten the people they were meant to serve
He warned that God will hold them to account, saying, “God will not leave them.”
Kwankwaso complained that many lawmakers, senators and ministers have retreated into luxury while poverty and insecurity bite communities across states such as Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Niger and Plateau.
He said banditry and other violent crimes are hitting civilians, especially in rural areas, and most victims are ordinary, poor people. He called for urgent action to protect citizens and for policies that ease everyday suffering.
On politics, Kwankwaso stated that the NNPP remains open to collaborating with any party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasised the party’s priorities, pointing out relief for the poor, better education for young people and stronger security.
“The poor must feel some comfort; our youths must be educated. Lives are being lost, most of them are our own people,” Kwankwaso said, urging leaders to stop enriching themselves while citizens suffer.
