In a rare show of humility on the African continent, something historic just happened in Malawi.
Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has praised Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera.
Why? For conceding defeat in the just concluded presidential election.
On Wednesday, Chakwera shocked many when he announced that he had personally called his opponent, Professor Peter Mutharika, to congratulate him on his victory. Jonathan, known globally for his peaceful concession in 2015, described Chakwera’s action as a true mark of statesmanship and democracy.
