Firefighters on Tuesday night battled a raging inferno that broke out on the fourth floor of Emab Plaza, behind Mandilas on Taiwo Street, Lagos Island, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it received the distress call at 7:23 pm, prompting crews from Ebute Elefun and Oniru fire stations to rush to the scene.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said.
Olajide Ogabi, deputy controller general of the service, who confirmed the response and ongoing efforts to contain the blaze, said the cause of the fire was not known at the time of this report.
Ogabi said the incident prompted a swift response from the officers of Lagos fire and rescue service.
