Gemini is still growing, and users are dealing with its growing pains. The interface is a little clunky, and people feel that it could be a bit more streamlined. Well, thanks to a new AKP deep-dive, we know that Google could be looking to clean up Gemini’s interface.
Gemini’s interface doesn’t look bad, it’s just full of clashing elements. There’s the rounded square box, the pill-shaped buttons, the circular Gemini Live button, and the rounded star in the middle. While it represents all of the characterizing features of Material You, it feels a little cumbersome compared to the other assistants.
Google could clean up Gemini’s messy interface
It seems that Google knows that Gemini is in for a revamp. The company started working on slimming it down. However, it’s important to know that this news comes from an APK deep dive (Google app version v15.46.36). As such, you’ll want to take it with a grain of salt. Google could make changes or cancel it at any point.
In the video provided by Android Authority, we see that Google really wants to trim the fat with Gemini’s interface. When summoned, Gemini appears as a text box at the bottom of the screen. That’s it. We see the “+” button on the left side of the box which will most likely let you add documents and images. On the right side, we see the microphone icon.
The interface changes when Gemini starts delivering its response. We see the “Ask Gemini” placeholder text along with the Gemini Live button on the right side. Just like before, you’ll see the Pause button at the top next to the Expand button.
Holding your finger on one of the responses will bring up a sub-menu with additional options: Like, Dislike, Export to Docs, Draft in Gmail, Create public link, Share, Double-check response, Select text, Copy text, and Report. It seems that Google will get rid of the unneeded bits of the interface, and it looks nice.
At this point, we don’t know when Google will push this update to Gemini. So, you’ll want to stay tuned for more updates.
