Google’s Gemini AI platform has continued to grow relentlessly. The company is constantly adding new features that its apps and services, especially the Workspace suite, can access via Gemini. Google Docs is one of the most popular services in the suite as it is an efficient and free alternative to Microsoft Word. Now, Google Docs is receiving integration with the Imagen 3 model for AI-powered image generation.
Imagen 3 is the latest image generation model developed by DeepMind, Google’s AI division. The company integrated Imagen 3 capabilities into Gemini, enabling image generation across multiple services of the Mountain View giant. Now it is the company’s word processor that receives these capabilities to become more efficient and productive.
Soon you will be able to generate images from Google Docs thanks to Imagen 3
Many times, your documents require you to add reference images. The process of searching for the ideal image can be a bit annoying, especially if you need them to show a very specific situation. It may also happen that you find the ideal image, but it does not have the size parameters that you require. That means you’ll have to spend some extra time cropping or resizing the picture to make it fit and look good.
To make things easier for you, Google Docs now has Imagen 3 integration via Gemini. You can access the feature from Insert > Image > Help me create an image. There you can add a text prompt describing the image you want to generate. You can also set the aspect ratio and size parameters to make it fit your document perfectly. You can even choose from multiple styles: Photo, Vector Art, Sketch, Watercolor, Cyberpunk, or “I’m Feeling Lucky” (random style). For Docs’ pageless mode, the option will be available in Insert > Cover image > Help me create an image.
The feature will reach subscribers of a paid plan
Like other advanced Gemini features for Workspace services, image generation isn’t free. The feature will be available to subscribers of a Google AI plan or add-on. Subscribers to Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium will be able to use it. Lastly, the company will roll out image generation in the “coming weeks.” So, it may not be available to you yet even if you are subscribed to one of the paid plans.
