Google has released a new “Google Doodle” that’s essentially an interactive, multi-player, and cross-platform game. The Google “Popcorn” Doodle offers multiple levels, and gamers need to survive the longest to win.
Google ‘Popcorn’ Doodle is survival of the fastest kernel
Google Doodles are images, mini-games, or infographics from the search giant. These Doodles usually celebrate an occasion, event, topic, or person. They are light-hearted reimaginations of the famous Google logo to celebrate milestone moments.
The Google Popcorn Doodle, however, is a fun game with no particular subject that offers loads of casual fun. With the latest Doodle or mini-game, Google appears to have crossed popcorn kernels with bullet hell shooters, “to celebrate popcorn“.
The latest Doodle places an un-popped corn kernel in a circular arena, which is populated by multiple kernels. The mini-game involves surviving the onslaught of projectiles that try to pop the kernel.
How to play the latest Google Doodle?
Google Doodles are usually time-restricted events. However, Google does offer an archive where internet users can revisit old Doodles.
Being the most recent Doodle, the Popcorn mini-game is reportedly available on Google’s homepage. As it is not an app, players can access it by opening up Chrome’s New Tab Page or the Google app on Android or iOS.
The Google Popcorn Doodle is a multi-player game involving 59 other players around the world. Google randomly assembles the team. However, players can get their little squad of friends together as well.
Players have their choice to play as one of three different kernels. Each kernel has its special ability. Two of the kernels are strictly defensive in gameplay. One has a healing aura, while the other has a shield.
Google also allows players to go on the offensive. The third kernel can catch and throw projectiles at other players. There’s a single ‘villain’ at the center of the arena that throws projectiles, which have to be avoided. The last un-popped kernel is the winner.
Players can use arrow keys if they are playing on a desktop. Dragging and tapping are not available to move the kernel when playing on a touchscreen. Instead, Google offers a virtual joystick for smartphone users.
