Google released the first-generation Pixel Tablet last year, which was quite different from what other smartphone makers have done with tablets. Many were asking why Google didn’t release a stylus with this tablet. Well, they were planning too. In fact, Android Authority has uncovered what the Pixel Pen looked like, which was basically a generic USI 2.0 Stylus. Which makes it even more interesting as to why Google didn’t release it.
The Pen, while it didn’t launch with the Pixel Tablet, was still in development. And it was likely set to launch alongside the Pixel Tablet 2 next year, until that development was cancelled last month.
Interestingly, it was being called “Pen for Google Pixel Tablet” with the codename “bushukan”. It’s unlikely that this would have been the marketing name for this stylus, it likely would have been something like Pixel Pen or Pixel Tablet Pen. It was so close to being released that it even had achieved certification from many bodies around the world prior to the Pixel Tablet’s launch in 2023.

These two colors would likely translate to porcelain and hazel colors, which is the names that Google has been using for the Pixel Tablet, as well as the Google TV Streamer.
If you own a Pixel Tablet, you likely know that there’s nowhere for the pen to actually dock and charge. So Google came up with a way to do just that. The Pen would magnetically dock into the keyboard accessory that Google was also working on.
The main purpose of the pen was to write handwriting on the Pixel Tablet. This is because not many apps support stylus input, despite the S Pen being around for so many years. Additionally, the Pen did also support Find My Device, so it would be easy to find it, if you lost the stylus.
