Google is back with the “Year in Search” results for 2024. The company does this every year to give us some insights into what people were most interested in throughout the year. Precisely speaking, Google highlights what users around the globe searched for the most across different categories.
Google’s 2024 “Year in Search” results detail people’s interests throughout the year
In a Keyword post from yesterday, Google mentions that most people used the Circle to Search and Google Lens features for translation, shopping, and identifying things. The company further adds that people combined visual search with the “how to use” phrase in 2024.
Google Maps also appeared to be in high demand among users this year. People looked up information about Italy’s Arena di Verona and Las Vegas’ Sphere Stadium the most in 2024. Google’s “Year in Search” results also named the top five songs that people hummed the most throughout the year. The song “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone topped that chart.
When it comes to top searches, people looked up most about the Copa America, UEFA European Championship, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, India vs England, and Liam Payne. In the news category, the US Election, Excessive Heat, Olympics, Hurricane Milton, and 台風 気象 情報 台風 第 10 号 (Typhoon No. 10 around Japan) took the top five spot.
Moving on, Donald Trump topped the chart of trending searches in the “People” category. When it comes to sports, people were most interested in athletes like Imane Khelif, Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, and others. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees were the most searched-for sports team globally in 2024.
Katt Williams was the most searched-for actor globally this year
In the “Gaming” category, games like the Connections, Palworld, Infinite Craft, Sprunki, and Helldivers 2 seal the top five spots. When it comes to the “Entertainment” section, Katt Williams topped the chart as the most searched-for actor. Talking of movies, musicians, and TV shows, the Inside Out 2, Diddy, and the Baby Reindeer ranked first in their respective categories.
