Gospel Stars Rally Support As Singer Omije Ojumi Battles Severe Leg Ailment

Bunmi Akinnaanu

Prominent Nigerian gospel musicians have launched an urgent appeal for financial support to save their colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, who is reportedly battling a severe leg ailment that has left her bankrupt.

Their calls intensified weeks after the singer visited G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking healing.

Leading the public appeal, singer Lanre Alewilese posted a video on Instagram informing fans and sympathisers of Omije Ojumi’s deteriorating condition and financial distress.

“She really needs your support NOW!” he said, sharing her account details and urging Nigerians to assist.

Alewilese called for unity across musical genres, saying, “Please, for God’s sake, I’m calling on both young and old, my brothers and sisters in the gospel industry including Juju and Fuji musicians, let’s set religion aside. Please let us save the life of Sister Bunmi Akinanu, Omije Ojumi.”

He added that he had personally contacted several artistes after learning of her condition, “When my colleague, Alayo, called me yesterday about her, I was shocked because I thought God had taken control of her healing. I didn’t know she’s being taken from one hospital to another.”

Singer Yinka Alaseyori, Olabest, Alayo Melody, Akinade Olubukola, and actress Foluke Daramola, among others, have also taken to social media to appeal for donations, prayers and emotional support.
