The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has condemned the continued distractions channelled towards his administration by politicians in the opposition.

Otti, while speaking at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuikaa District headquarters, Isialangwa South Local Government Area, on Saturday, said these politicians have vowed to distract his government with rhetoric about the 2027 elections.

According to the governor, he is focused on fixing the various sectors of the economy of the state while ensuring the people have the best of their desires.

He also noted that his administration will continue to do the right thing as he is not bothered about the 2027 polls or its outcome.

“I am not bothered about 2027 as the God that settled 2023 would equally settle 2027.

“This government will continue to do the right thing. No one, or group of people, whoever they are, none of them is entitled to distract us.

“So, when they make noise, like I said last week, we should not be bothered by the noise. We should just remain focused and do what we have to do,” Otti said.

Speaking further, the governor said his faith in emerging victorious for a second-term bid lies in God.

“Sometimes, I worry if it is the 2027 election they are talking about, or maybe there’s another election coming up, but the same way God delivered me in 2023, that is the way he will deliver me in 2027,” he said.

Otti also used the opportunity to apologise to the people of Isiala Ngwa for the ongoing dualisation of the road around the Umuikaa junction-Owerrinta.

According to him, he understands the inconvenience such a project may be causing the people.

He, however, assured that the rehabilitation process is at its final stage and would serve the people well.

“And as we are doing this, we are also doing the one from Onuimo to Tower. And the idea is that any time you get into Abia State, you know you’ve gotten into Abia State” Otti added.
