Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has approved the appointment of eight new Permanent Secretaries into the state’s public service in a move aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and improving service delivery across government ministries and departments.
The approval was contained in a press release dated January 21, 2026, and issued by the Head of the Civil Service, Abigail Waya.
According to the statement, the appointments are part of the governor’s efforts to reinvigorate the state’s public service and enhance effective policy implementation.
Waya said the newly appointed officials were selected based on merit, experience and their capacity to contribute meaningfully to governance in the state.
“The appointments are aimed at reinvigorating the public service and enhancing administrative effectiveness across ministries and departments,” she said.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
- Absolom Madawa from Akwanga Local Government Area
- Stephen Sasetu from Karu Local Government Area
- Khadija Suleiman from Keffi Local Government Area
- Hadiza Dohiru from Lafia Local Government Area
- Mohammed S. Mohammed from Lafia Local Government Area
- Yahaya Yakubu Ede from Nasarawa Local Government Area
- Salamatu Oseze Sani from Toto Local Government Area
- Sunday Iliya from Wamba Local Government Area
The Head of the Civil Service emphasised that the appointments were based strictly on merit and professional experience, noting that the move was expected to further strengthen governance structures in the state.
According to her, the new Permanent Secretaries will play key roles in ensuring efficiency in public administration and the effective execution of government policies.
Waya also disclosed that the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries would be held on a date to be announced by the state government.
She urged the appointees to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities in service to the state.
