The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, on Sunday commiserated with the All Progressive Congress (APC) over the death of its former Osun State chairman, Adegboyega Famodun, praying that God grants his family and the opposition “strength to bear the loss”.
In a statement issued shortly after he arrived in Nigeria, Adeleke recalled Famodun’s long association with the Adeleke family, especially during the cleric-turned-politician’s years in the United States of America, where he maintained close family friendships, describing him as a “politician of note” who “contributed his quota to Osun’s political development”.
Adeleke, in the statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the deceased had played his part in shaping political conversations in the state and remained a respected stakeholder despite party differences.
The governor equally extended condolences to the people of Igbajo town, acknowledging the community’s loss.
The statement read, “On behalf of the government and people of Osun State, I condole the family of our late brother, Adegboyega Famodun. I got the shocking news as I was arriving in the country today.”
“Our late brother was a close family friend. We mourn his sudden death. We join the family in this grieving period,” Adeleke said, adding a prayer for the repose of his soul.
