A Civil Society Coalition, The Osun Mastermind, has lauded the Federal Government for its efforts at resuscitating technical colleges across the country.

The group’s Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, gave the commendation at a news conference on Friday in Osogbo.

Oyedokun-Alli said, “such efforts will help bridge the acquisition gaps in the state and enable productivity among a vast population of able-young people.”

He urged the government to rejig its institutional frameworks for proper management of the technical colleges with massive drive for enrolment, planning of curriculum and massive rebrand of technical colleges image.

“The state parades a vast population of able-young people, who are uneducated and thus need survival skills to become productive which is sacrosanct.

“We want to ask what efforts has been made, as there seems to be a pointer to real action with regard to the colleges.

“This is in spite of government’s announcement of investment and incentives to payment of allowances to technical students,” Oyedokun -Alli said.

According to him, the efforts at resituating the colleges must be total with a framework to sustain current efforts beyond the present administration.

Speaking on the local government crisis in the state, Oyedokun -Alli appealed to those in the authority, especially in the judiciary, to address the confusion surrounding the crisis for the safety of lives and property.

He noted that the sad twist of events had led to killings and abandonment of the local government secretariat by the employees.

Oyedokun-Alli called on the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, to address the issue within a short time for effective functioning of the local government administration in the state. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
