Will GTA 6 Run At 60fps?

Fans Are Hopeful

Fans are hyped for a new Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro update, which really kicks things into high gear for the game. It’s arriving this week and supports ray tracing at 60 FPS. It’s something fans have wanted for a long time: not to have to choose between “visuals and performance” and to get both on consoles. While select games do enable features like this, it’s not commonplace, even for enhanced hardware like the PS5 Pro. Now, that could be changing.

Fans are bullish on the idea of it supporting 60 FPS for GTA 5: “They’ll definitely be a 60fps w/ RT option. All modes will also be advertised as 4K/30, 4K/40, & 4K/60.”

Others are somewhat skeptical, noting that Grand Theft Auto 6 already looks more intense than Cyberpunk 2077: “The open world of CP is just largely decoration. GTA might have much more going on, simulation-wise. Don’t think GPU is a big bottleneck for the 60fps, it will be more intense on the CPU.”

You might be wondering why fans are so invested in the console editions. Well, remember that GTA 6 isn’t coming to PC at launch: “IDC how good it is, I’m not paying €900 just to have a system to play on,” another fan writes.

Sadly, the PlayStation 5 Pro is in the midst of a price hike, and some pundits fear we could see another by the end of the year. It’s a massive shame given that hardware generally gets cheaper over time, and the PS5 Pro could be one of the best ways to play GTA 6 when the time comes.

PlayStation architect Mark Cerny recently shared some interesting updates for the PS5 Pro, noting it would receive a core update to enhance its capabilities. Software manufacturers are also getting more wise to the PS5 Pro’s specifications, leading to more breakthroughs.

How that will impact Grand Theft Auto 6 remains to be seen. Ideally, when they reveal trailer three later this year, we’ll get an idea of how it’ll be supported on consoles.
