Gunshots Erupt At Soludo’s Country Home After Election Victory

Policemen at Soludos residence

Tension briefly broke out in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Sunday as policemen attached to Governor Chukwuma Soludo fired gunshots into the air moments after the governor was declared winner of the 2025 governorship election.

Naijaonpoint learnt that the gunfire occurred at the governor’s private residence.

Security operatives assigned to the governor released the shots as a form of celebration shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Soludo’s sweeping victory across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) recorded a landslide victory, securing 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes.

Other top contenders trailed far behind:

Paul Chukwuma (YPP) – 37,753 votes

John Nwosu (ADC) – 8,208 votes

Naijaonpoint had earlier reported that Soludo defeated Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) and John Chuma-Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their own local government area, Nnewi North.

Both Moghalu and Chuma-Nwosu hail from Nnewi North, while Soludo is from Isuofia in Aguata LGA.

The Collation Officer for Nnewi North LGA announced the results early Sunday at the State Collation Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
