The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of selectively obeying court rulings, alleging that the governor only respects judicial decisions when they work in his favour..
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Okocha criticized a recent ruling by the State High Court on the chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers, arguing that the matter was still before the Court of Appeal.
“The governor does not respect laws. He respects them when it suits him, and when it doesn’t, he disregards them. I don’t know of any system that teaches such governance. In Political Science, we are taught that the law is sacrosanct and must be obeyed,” Okocha stated.
He further questioned the legitimacy of the High Court’s intervention in the PDP leadership tussle, insisting that only the party has the power to inaugurate its state executives.
Beyond the legal dispute, the APC chairman also criticized the state of infrastructure in Port Harcourt, claiming that the city, once known as the “Garden City,” had deteriorated under Fubara’s administration.
“Port Harcourt has turned into a Garbage City. The city is dark at night, major roads like Ikwerre Road, Airport Road, G.U. Ake Road, and Aba Road have no street lights. And you call this governance?” he lamented.
