Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has praised Michael Olise’s impressive start to life at the Allianz Arena, despite his delayed arrival in Germany, Soccernet.football reports.

The Frenchman represented France at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, only joining the Bavarians late in preseason. However, the former Crystal Palace winger has settled in quickly, much to Kompany’s delight.

Olise, who joined Bayern for a reported £50.7 million, has already contributed four goal involvements, registering three goals and one assist across all competitions.

His latest impact came during his Champions League debut, where he scored twice in Bayern’s 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.

With his brace, Olise became the third Frenchman to score two goals on his debut in the competition, following Thomas Deniaud in 1996 and Thierry Henry in 1997.

The 22-year-old’s strong form follows a stellar 2023/2024 Premier League campaign with Palace as well as an impressive outing at the Olympics with France, where he won a silver medal.

“Well, for me, it wasn’t that bad that he went to the Olympic tournament, because he arrived in really good shape at Bayern Munich,” Kompany said as per Supersports.com.

“It’s exactly what we were expecting. I think he’s really playing a big role, which isn’t easy when you’ve arrived in the Bundesliga and at a club like Bayern.”

“He will take further steps. From my point of view, it’s very positive, but I stay calm as well, because I know it’s important to continue the way he does in order to experience good times.”

The Bavarians will be back in Bundesliga action this weekend when they travel to the Weserstadion to face Werder Bremen and Kompany’s men will be hoping to maintain their perfect start to the campaign.
