Super Eagles B stand-in coach Daniel Ogunmodede has expressed his team’s determination to focus on the present and future as his team prepares for a crucial CHAN qualifier against Ghana in Uyo, Soccernet.ng reports.

Earlier at the Accra International Stadium on Sunday the Eagles B team and Ghana locked horns for a goalless draw, which leaves the two team to a decisive game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Ogunmodede, who doubles as the manager of NPFL side Remo Stars, acknowledged past challenges against the Black Galaxies of Ghana, but stressed the importance of securing qualification for Nigeria.

“We know history has not been sincere with us as a country. So we’ve decided not to pay attention to what history has done to us,” Ogunmodede said. “We pay maximum attention to the present and what the future holds for us. We know how important it is for us [to qualify]. If we qualify, we have [a] good future for ourselves—for the players, for the coaches, and for the country and the incoming generation of footballers in the country.

“We need to give everything to be a good market for the league. That is, to whom much is given, much is expected.”

On the other side, Ghana’s head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has earlier weighed in on his team’s ambition to secure a clean sheet and take an important step toward qualifying for the CHAN tournament.

“As much as possible, we will try to keep a clean sheet, but I want to believe that we will surely score,” Dramani said. “We will score; we will open up something. I control the energy, the effort, I control the performance [of my boys], but the results, we don’t control it.”

The Super Eagles B team will enjoy the advantage of playing at home when they host Ghana in Uyo, as they aim to secure a ticket to represent Nigeria at the upcoming tournament.
