A girl lost conciousness after allegedly being gang-raped while visiting a relative. The incident purportedly occurred in the Laksar area of Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district in India. Police say the victim went with her mother to a jagran, a Hindu night ritual, at a relative’s house. It is alleged that four suspects then lured her to an isolated location and raped her.
As of yesterday, three people aged between 19 and 21 had been apprehended, with police also wanting to detain a 17-year-old. After regaining conciousness following the alleged assault, the girl sought help from her mother and a report to police was made.
SP (Rural) Shekhar Chandra Suyal said: “Police teams led by senior sub-inspector Nitin Chauhan were deployed to track down the perpetrators. Three adult accused were arrested within a few hours.”
The Times of India reported that police were continuing search operations to locate and apprehend the 17-year-old suspect.
