Houston couple Carolyn and Rommel Zamora have been charged with health care fraud of $8.7 million from fake home health services.

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A Houston couple is set to appear in court over allegations of fraud involving a home health company that they jointly own and operate.

The video above is from the live broadcast channel ABC13.

Caroline Zamora, 63, and Rommel Zamora, 59, were charged with allegedly conspiring to pay illegal cash bribes to health care patients to sign up for 24/7 Stat Care Home Health Services Inc. Also known as Parkway Healthcare Services.

This ran from February 7, 2014 to November 9, 2018.

The Zamora family has also been accused of paying bribes to doctors to certify and refer patients to home health care who are not qualified.

According to records, Parkway reportedly fraudulently paid Medicare $8.7 million for home health services that were not provided or for patients who did not qualify and $6.7 million was paid.

If convicted, they both face up to 10 years in prison on each count of health care fraud and five years for conspiracy. All charges also carry a potential penalty of up to a $250,000 fine.
