Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg has announced that a man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for killing a friend after smoking methamphetamine.
The video above is from the live broadcast channel ABC13.
Sean Strout, 36, was convicted of murder by a Harris County jury after a four-day trial in the October 14, 2017 killing of 36-year-old Aaron Walker.
“This man was a threat who chose over and over again to smoke methamphetamine and violence,” Ogg said.
“He threw out every chance he got and ended up stealing from a friend, which led to an argument that got that friend killed.”
Strout was said to be an old friend of the victim. On the day of the murder, Strout went to Walker’s house with an acquaintance to socialize.
Walker then accused Strout of stealing his sunglasses and an undisclosed amount of money, and the two began arguing. Officials said this caused the third man to leave.
A neighbor reportedly heard gunshots a few moments later and saw Walker running from his garage. That was when he was mortally wounded.
Prosecuting the case, Chadwick Scott said, “Every witness, including the defendant, testified about the victim being a loving, caring person — he would give the shirt off his back to help a friend.”
“We are proud that the jury recognized Strout left a trail of victims that had affected him throughout his life and decided to hold him accountable.”
It’s been said that Strout has a proven track record already. When he was arrested for the murder, he was on probation for theft.
In addition, he has been arrested several times for drug possession and robbery.
While awaiting trial in prison, he was charged with assaulting an inmate by hitting him with a stocking with a weight in it.
He was also accused of harassing a public servant for throwing bodily fluids at a corrections officer.
