Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, known as Liquorose, has shared how she almost missed her chance on the reality show in 2020.
Naijaonpoint reports that in an interview with VJ Adams, she revealed that she was prepared and waiting to be introduced at the launch, but was prevented from entering.
The setback left her feeling low and nearly made her give up on her dream of joining the show.
Liquorose and another hopeful contestant, Jaypaul, were unable to participate that year after testing positive for COVID-19.
Despite the disappointment, both returned the following year to audition.
Liquorose admitted that she almost skipped the audition in 2021 due to her past experience, but a friend encouraged her to give it another try.
She eventually went through the process, later discovering she had been selected.
Her persistence paid off when she competed in Big Brother Naija Season 5 in 2021 and finished as the runner-up, narrowly losing the grand prize to Whitemoney.
She said, “In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and make up done, but I was not called. That really hurt me.
“That experience was messing with me. So, the following year, I didn’t even want to audition but my friend convinced me to try. I just auditioned and forgot about it. I just went to check my spam one day and I discovered that I have been selected. It was crazy.”
