Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have rescued a kidnapped victim during a swift operation in Yaja Village, Lau Local Government Council of Taraba State.
The rescue, according to the statement made available to journalists in the state a few minutes ago by the Brigade Acting Spokesperson, Lt. Umar Muhammad, occurred on 11 December 2025 after soldiers deployed at Maraba Apawa received credible intelligence indicating the movement of suspected kidnappers in the area.
According to the Army, the troops immediately launched a rapid-response pursuit, applying enough pressure to force the kidnappers to abandon their captive.
“The victim, identified as 40-year-old Alhaji Shuaibu from Yelwata community in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, had been abducted two days earlier on 9 December 2025,” the statement read.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the soldiers for what he described as a timely, professional, and resilient operation.
He said the successful rescue underscores the Brigade’s commitment to protecting communities across Taraba State.
General Uwa reaffirmed that the Brigade remains fully prepared to deny criminal elements any safe haven and warned that all forms of kidnapping, banditry, and violent crime will continue to attract swift and decisive military action.
He also assured residents of a peaceful and secure festive season, urging the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to support ongoing security operations.
The Nigerian Army, through Brigadier General Uwa, expressed appreciation for the cooperation of locals and reiterated its resolve to maintain stability and peace across Taraba State.
