A 16-year-old girl in Delta State has alleged that she was deceived into visiting a hotel in the Ughelli area, where two teenage boys allegedly sexually assaulted her and filmed the encounter.
The teenager made the allegation while recounting her experience during an interview with the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, following the arrest of one of the suspects, identified as Godstime.
She said a friend, known as Nice Money, invited her to the hotel and promised that her transport fare would be provided. However, on getting there, she reportedly met Godstime and another boy, Goodluck, instead of the person she expected to see.
According to the girl, an argument broke out after her arrival, during which one of the teenagers allegedly slapped her and instructed her to remove her clothes. She claimed the two boys subsequently sexually assaulted her and recorded the incident with their phones.
She further alleged that the teenagers refused to delete the recording when she pleaded with them, insisting that she would have to submit to further sexual acts. She said she eventually escaped from the hotel after the suspects fell asleep.
The matter reportedly came to public attention after a video circulated on social media in which the teenagers allegedly mocked the girl after she told them that she was menstruating.
Edafe confirmed that one of the suspects involved in the alleged assault and recording had been arrested. The police spokesperson said the suspect would be made to face the law over the incident.
Godstime, while speaking after his arrest, reportedly admitted participating in the sexual encounter and recording the video. He claimed, however, that the sexual activity occurred only twice, contradicting the girl’s account.
The suspect also said he had communicated with the girl through WhatsApp before her arrival at the hotel. He explained that the video was recorded after they became angry when she disclosed that she was menstruating.
Edafe assured that the police would proceed with the case in accordance with the law and warned that the suspect would face prosecution over the alleged offence.
