Huawei announced its new Mate 70 flagship series quite recently, and the company is seeing “excessive” demand for the devices. This information comes from the company’s executive, He Gang.
The company’s executive says Huawei is seeing ‘excessive’ demand for the Mate 70 series
With that being said, some analysts are saying that consumers are not as interested in the Mate 70, as they were in the Mate 60. Both of these claims could be true, as the demand for the Mate 60 series in China was ground-breaking.
Those phones were the first from Huawei to come with 5G connectivity in a long, long time. In other words, since 2020. The US sanctions made it really difficult for Huawei to do business as per usual.
In any case, separate reports claim that Huawei’s supply chain is working overtime in order to meet heavy demand for the Mate 70 series. It was reported that the initially-manufactured supplies were insufficient.
The analysts, on the other hand, believe that Huawei is facing supply bottlenecks due to issues with chip production for the Mate 70 series.
HarmonyOS NEXT comes pre-installed on Huawei’s new flagships… in China
It is also worth noting that these new flagships come with Huawei’s new OS, HarmonyOS NEXT. This OS is not based on Android, unlike HarmonyOS which ships on global models at the moment.
It remains to be seen what will happen with upcoming global smartphones from Huawei. HarmonyOS could become a thing of the past, making way for the ‘NEXT’ version. Google made some changes to Android demands, and Huawei could end up being locked out for good.
Speaking of global variants, we’re not sure if the Huawei Mate 70 will launch globally at all. The Huawei Mate X6 is coming, that much has been confirmed, but nothing has been mentioned about the Mate 70 series. As a reminder, the Mate X6 will arrive to global markets on December 12, during a launch event in Dubai.
