Huawei recently took the smartphone world by storm with the unveiling of the first-ever tri-fold smartphone, Huawei Mate XT. Now, the company has confirmed it is preparing to take a giant leap in the operating system domain. The company is all set to launch its “Pure Blood” operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT, by the end of September.

The launch of HarmonyOS NEXT was first announced at the China International Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing. Chen Xinxin, the general manager of HarmonyOS Industry Solutions, emphasized that the in-house team has developed the new platform which makes it fully independent and autonomous.
The entirely new HarmonyOS NEXT is also termed the “Pure Blood” OS in China. You must be wondering why, right? Well, the new OS has been rewritten from the ground up, eliminating any dependency on Android codes.
To catch you up, the initial iterations of the HarmonyOS were based on Android’s Open Source Project (ASOP). Therefore, they used to support Android-based apps. But, that won’t be the case with the “Pure Blood” HarmonyOS NEXT.

Notably, Chinese developers from different sectors have voiced their support for the “Pure Blood” HarmonyOS NEXT. That’s not all, JD.com, China’s one of biggest e-commerce platforms, has already announced its mobile app compatible with the HarmonyOS NEXT will launch by the end of this month.
Several reports have hinted that HarmonyOS NEXT could feature in the company’s next flagship, Huawei Mate 70 5G, launching later this year. All in all, it is safe to say that through its homeland support, Huawei has shown great resilience against US sanctions till now. But, the question remains – will the “Pure Blood” HarmonyOS NEXT succeed in surpassing the popularity of Android in its homeland?
