Music executive Audu Maikori has called out former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai for criticizing the way security agents tried to detain him at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport last week.
According To NewsVista Reporter, Maikori, speaking in an interview on Arise TV, described El-Rufai’s complaint as ironic, noting that the former governor oversaw one of the most tyrannical administrations in Kaduna State. Maikori recounted his own arrest on February 17, 2017, over tweets about alleged killings in Southern Kaduna. Though the claims were later proven false, he said El-Rufai personally orchestrated his detention and prevented the police from handling the investigation independently.
Maikori emphasized the distinction between prosecution and persecution, arguing that El-Rufai abused his authority to intimidate citizens while in office. “He who comes to equity must come with clean hands,” Maikori said, stressing that it is hypocritical for El-Rufai to now complain about being treated unfairly by the same system he once used to persecute others.
