Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ayo Olaiya has dispelled rumours that he planned on exploiting Mohbad’s story for movies and featuring the used the late singer’s father.
A video of the actor and some of his colleagues on the movie set meeting the late singer’s father made rounds online, leading many to think the actor wanted to feature him in his movie.
Via his Instagram page, Ayo made it known that he is an actor and filmmaker and has never claimed to be a human rights activist. He debunked reports that he wanted to use Mohbad’s story for a movie and feature his father in his movie.
He explained that while shooting a movie around Mohbad’s father’s house in Ikorodu, his team saw the singer’s father, and many wanted to take pictures with him. Ayo admonished rumour peddlers to verify things before jumping to conclusions.
“My name is Ayo Olaiya. I am an actor and a filmmaker. I have never claimed to be a human rights activist. Contrary to the lies going around, I never planned to use Mohbad’s story for a movie, and I have not featured Mohbad’s dad in any of my movies. I was filming with my team around Mohbad’s father’s house in Ikorodu when one of my crew members saw Mohbad’s father in his car and screamed his name. The man alighted from his car to greet us and take pictures with us. Always take your time to verify things before jumping to conclusions. To my fans, I love you all for your unflinching love and support. Many thanks for your concern. God bless you all. Rest on legendary Mohbad”.
A few weeks ago, Olaiya had called on the government and Mohbad’s family to hasten the investigation. He noted how Imole’s life while he was alive and the events that followed after he separated the sinful world showed that he was born to rule the world and, as such, deserves a proper rest.
