The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has articulated that his administration is establishing a robust framework for effective governance in the state, aimed at benefiting not only the current generation but also future ones.

Naijaonpoint reports that Ibas made this statement on Monday, May 19, during the inauguration of a four-day Transformational Leadership Training Workshop for Sustainable Development, organised by the Rivers State Government in partnership with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Port Harcourt.

He emphasised that the administration’s focus is centred on building strong institutions, fostering a results-oriented public service, and ensuring continuous capacity development.

The workshop convened permanent secretaries, local government officials, and directors from various ministries throughout the state.

The sole administrator further clarified that the workshop signifies a significant advancement in enhancing Rivers State’s public service to align with the increasing expectations of citizens in a rapidly evolving environment.

He noted that the purpose of the training extends beyond mere system enhancement; it aims to cultivate a cultural transformation within the public service, grounded in principles of excellence, accountability, and innovation.

Ibas asserted that only through consistent and pertinent training can the cycle of stagnation in governance be disrupted, equipping public servants to adapt, evolve, and improve service delivery.

He said: “This training is designed to equip you with the tools and insights necessary to lead through complexity, champion reforms, strengthen local government autonomy, and deliver meaningful results to our communities. I urge you to embrace it fully with open minds and a clear commitment to translate learning into action

“This administration is committed to building strong institutions, promoting efficiency, and fostering a result-driven public service.

“We are laying the foundation for a culture of good governance in Rivers State, one that will serve not just the present generation but also those to come.”

Previously, the Director-General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, characterised the theme of the workshop, ‘Transformational Leadership for Sustainable Development’, as both opportune and strategic.

He said, “This course is meticulously designed to bridge leadership gaps and equip participants with contemporary strategies for collaborative governance.”
