Adeoluwa Okusaga, famously known as Saga, has built a reputation beyond his time in the Big Brother Naija reality show.
As an engineer, model, and fitness expert, he continues to explore new avenues in entertainment—most notably in Nollywood, where he has become a go-to actor for romantic roles.
For Saga, this is no coincidence. “First of all, I am a romantic myself. When I was in Big Brother Naija, I showed myself as a romantic. So, a lot of filmmakers naturally think of me in that direction and want to cast me for romantic roles. It’s natural; I easily fit into them,” he said in a recent chat.
Many actors immerse themselves in research to embody their characters, but for Saga, romantic roles come instinctively. “I draw inspiration from myself. For example, if you have never been to the trenches, you can never fully act like someone from the trenches. That’s why some professional actors go out of their way to immerse themselves in certain environments before taking on a role. But because I am naturally romantic, it’s easier for me to embrace these characters and interpret them properly,” he noted.
Despite playing multiple romantic roles, the No Love Lust star actor ensures that each character stands out. “Being romantic is such a broad scope. Are you a husband, a boyfriend, or someone trying to woo a lady? Are you a bad lover? Are you a father? Are you heartbroken? These are different storylines already,” he elaborates. “Because I dive into the intricacies of each script, I bring something unique to every character.”
