I Am Not Against Europeans – Seun Kuti

Seun Kuti

Afrobeats musician, Seun Kuti has stated that contrary to public belief, he is against European colonialism, and not European people.

He argued that his critique of European colonization shouldn’t be misinterpreted as hatred for European people.

The singer, who is known for his strong stance against imperialism and corruption, explained that his stance is not directed at the European people.

Speaking via a post on his Instagram page, Kuti argued that many Europeans have been Nigerians’ allies in the fight against greed and unfair systems.

He said, “I’m against European colonisation and imperialism but that does not mean that I’m against European people. Many Europeans have been our allies in the fight against greed and unfair systems, to make the world a fairer place for everyone.

“Being against colonisation does not mean being against Europeans, many have stood with us in the fight for justice and fairness.”

Meanwhile, Kuti has urged Nigerians not to involve him in the ongoing rift between Burna Boy and Speed Darlington.

Speed Darlington was apprehended for suggesting that Burna Boy had an illicit relationship with embattled American music executive, Diddy in a bid to win a Grammy.

Reacting to comments by some fans during a recent Instagram live session, Kuti stated that he does not want to get involved in the situation, maintaining that Burna Boy gifting him diamond jewellery doesn’t make him his adviser.

He said, moreover, Diddy whom Speed Darlington accused Burna Boy of having illicit relationships with, was the one who made the accuser popular.

Don’t involve me in Burna Boy & Speed Darlington’s case; because I collected a diamond from him doesn’t mean I’m his close adviser. Diddy was even the one who made Speed Darlington popular.

“He reposted ‘Bangdadang’ which made the song popular. I have done a lot of songs, and Diddy never posted any of them, but he reposted Speed Darlington’s song,” he said.
